St. Patrick's Day Beeswax Candle

  • Beeswax pellets
  • Candle wick(s)
  • Essential oils
  • Candle mold(s)
  • Scotch tape
  • Pencil(s)

1. Select your candle mold(s) based on the size and shape you want your candle(s) to be. You can purchase candle molds, or you can easily make your own out of common household items. Cardboard containers work best: lightly spray the inside with cooking spray to remove your candle easily.

2. Fill your candle mold(s) with beeswax pellets a little higher than desired height (to compensate for air space between the pellets). Pour the beeswax into a glass measuring cup, and place cup in a sauce pan filled halfway with boiling water. Stir the beeswax occasionally until fully melted.

3. While the beeswax is melting, prepare candle mold(s). Attach the candle wick(s) to the bottom center of each mold with scotch tape. Wrap the candle wick around a pencil and balance it on top of the mold, using more tape to hold the pencil in place.

4. Once the beeswax is fully melted, remove the glass measuring cup from the stove, and add drops of essential oil to desired intensity. Pour the beeswax into your candle mold(s), and then set aside to harden.

5. When your candle is fully cooled and solid, from the mold. If you made your own mold, just cut or tear the cardboard off. Trim the candle wick.

6. For St. Patrick's Day, fill a glass vase or candle holder partway with dried split peas, and then nestle your candle in.
