Essential Oil Rice Bunnies

Product Code: BUNNY

Description

You'll love this Easter toy/decoration that doubles as a heat pad or ice pack.

Materials:

  • Flannel fabric (or another type that won't fray easily).
  • Scissors: sewing scissors and pinking sheers (latter optional).
  • Rice (about 1 cup per bunny).
  • Essential oils (1–2 drops per bunny).
  • Sewing machine.
  • Needle and thread.
  • Ribbon.
  • Straight pins
  • Printable Bunny Buddy Template.

Instructions:

1. Gather your supplies.

2. Fold your fabric in half with right sides out. Pin the bunny template to the fabric, and cut around the edges. If you are going to finish the edge with pinking sheers, cut about 1/8" away from the template edge. If you are going to just leave a straight edge, you can cut right along the edge of the template.

3. Unpin the template from your fabric, and bring your bunny cutout to the sewing machine, leaving the right sides out. You can pin the 2 pieces of fabric together to help keep them from slipping while you sew. Use your sewing machine to stitch around the outside of the bunny. If you are going to finish the edge with pinking sheers, sew about 1/4" in from the edge. If you are going to leave the edge straight, sew about 1/8" in from the edge. Leave an opening about 1 ¼" wide at the bottom of the bunny to pour the rice in.

4. If you are going to finish the edge with the pinking sheers, do it now. Cut carefully along the edge of the bunny, being careful not to get too close to the stitched seam.

5. Pour the rice into a glass measuring cup, and stir in essential oil.

6. Using a funnel or rolled up piece of paper, pour rice into the bunny through opening at the bottom. Shake the bunny a bit to settle.

7. Use a needle and thread to stitch closed the opening.

8. Tie a piece of ribbon in a bow around the bunny's neck.

9. Heat in the microwave 1–2 minutes for a body or bed warmer. (Place a mug of water alongside to avoid scorching.) Or store in the freezer for a cold pack.
