Description

Exfoliating Foot or Body Scrub with Essential Oils

Exfoliating foot and body scrubs are popular nowadays. And no wonder—they feel good going on and leave your skin soft and smooth! Try experimenting with different essential oils or blends, or try combining different exfoliating materials for your favorite pampering combination.

Ingredients and Materials:

  • 1/4 cup epsom salt or other exfoliating agent. (You can also use coarse sea salt, fine sea salt, table salt, raw sugar, brown sugar, or white sugar. The coarser the salt is, the more exfoliating. And while salt works well, it can sting in open cuts or sores—so use only on unbroken skin.)
  • 1/4 cup sweet almond oil.
  • 2 capsules or 6–8 drops of vitamin E oil (optional). (Acts as a natural antioxidant and preservative.)
  • 10–20 drops essential oils.
  • 4 oz. salve container or jar.

Instructions:

  • Pour all ingredients into a bowl, and mix together.
  • Pour the mixture into a container.
  • To use the scrub, place a small amount in your palm and scrub over moistened skin. Rinse off in a shower or tub (Note: The oils in this scrub can make the floor of the bathtub or shower slippery.)

More Ideas:

  1. Use ultramarine powders or other natural powders and oil-soluble colorants to beautify your scrubs.
  2. Vary the type of salt or sugar for progressively smoother scrubs (e.g., a coarse "buffing" scrub, followed by a fine "polishing" scrub). Try different relaxing essential oils in each scrub.
