Within one month after her birth in Auckland, New Zealand, Abby Bean began exhibiting symptoms of a serious respiratory infection. Efforts to control and relieve the problem by Abby's doctors were fruitless. At 18 months of age, her parents, Robert and Sue decided to move from Auckland to Adelaide, South Australia, hoping the dry climate there would help. Unfortunately, the congestion and infection in her lungs, ears, throat, nose, and sinuses continued, despite dozens of antibiotic prescriptions. Her physical and mental development was hampered by the onset of serious allergies, loss of appetite and arthritic pain. By the time she was seven years old, her desperate parents had consulted many different types of doctors, allopaths, naturopaths, osteopaths, nutritionists...all without success. An ENT specialist finally ordered a sinus X-ray, which showed severe infection deep in the sinus cavities. Her parents, reluctant to put her through the torment of another course of antibiotics and major sinus surgery, decided to try one last "natural" approach, namely treatment with therapeutic essential oils by Dr. Penoel, who had recently arrived in Adelaide. The specialist was quite disgusted with this decision and made Abby's parents agree to bring her back in two weeks. If the problem had not significantly improved by then, he would proceed with surgery...

Thus Dr. Penoel had two weeks to undo and correct all the problems that had accumulated over seven years of suffering, seven years of antibiotics, seven years of artificial survival for a young girl who had never known what it felt like to be healthy. This story is an amazing testament to the power of essential oils and the new direction medicine will take in the future. The foreword of this book contains Abby's story in her own words, and Dr. Penoel uses her experience as the prototype for illustrating what medicine can and should be, using the natural healing power of essential oils. |
